Introducing Drake Accounting

What's New in 2018

Drake Accounting is a ground up rebuild of Drake Software’s Accounting/Payroll application using the latest in computer technology.

Drake Accounting provides the ability to manage basic client financial records through the use of double-entry accounting. A number of reports are provided including multi-column profit and loss reports, pre-posted reports, comparative or single column balance sheets, and payroll reports.

Use Drake Accounting to enter vendor invoices, print (and reprint) live vendor checks, and enter after-the-fact vendor invoice information for accounting purposes. Use the Accounts Payable module or “Check Writer” to print vendor checks.

Use the Accounts Receivable module to record and track customer invoices, shipments, payments, and balances.

Important Announcement for Drake Client Write-Up (CWU) Users

Drake CWU Users:

We are excited to announce the long-awaited release of Drake Accounting, our newly-architected and enhanced version of Client Write-Up (CWU). Drake Accounting was built from the ground up using the latest computer technology in order to provide an excellent user experience based on our core philosophies of software development – make it accurate, make it simple, make it fast.

Same Features

With Drake Accounting, you will have all of the features you had with CWU, including live and after-the-fact payroll, bookkeeping, accounts payable, on-the-fly forms processing, and free e-filing of Forms 94x, W-2, and 1099. In addition, you can also take advantage of some exciting new features like batch payroll processing, electronic signatures, the ability to edit prior year journal entries, automated offsetting entries, enhanced reporting, and a modernized client face portal. With the 2019, coming in December 2018, we will be releasing multi-state payroll and graphical reports along with many other requested enhancements.

Smooth Transition

We’ve taken great care to ensure you’ll have a smooth transition from CWU to Drake Accounting.  Drake Accounting will update your firm information and global setup items the first time you run the program.  You can also update your clients from CWU to Drake Accounting at any time.  To make the transition as easy as possible, we support updating CWU clients from a prior year or from the current year.  We strongly recommend that you start using Drake Accounting by July 2018 so that you can familiarize yourself with the new program and be ready to start using it exclusively in 2019.  We already have many customers using it exclusively today.

CWU’s Final Year

CWU will sunset at the end of 2018.  It has been a part of the Drake suite of products for decades and while we are sad to retire the product, we are excited about moving forward with Drake Accounting.

Thank you for using Drake CWU.  You have helped us advance the product over the years, and we look forward to partnering with you on the development of Drake Accounting.
